Transfer Mentor Program

Psi Beta Day

Our goal is to aid Psychology majors in finding community and achieving academic excellence during their time at UCSD. In order to meet the needs of incoming transfer students, we created the Transfer Mentor Program in 2018. In this program, we will pair you with an established psychology student with similar career goals and interests. This mentor will aid you and other transfers in their transition to UCSD through giving advice and showing you the nuances of the Psychology program that many do not discover until later in their UCSD experience. In addition, we will hold a series of community-building events and mixers throughout the year.

The deadline to apply for 2019-2020 has passed.

However, you can join Psi Chi/Psychology Club throughout the academic year.

Issanna Loughman, President 2018-2019

Every year,  UCSD Psi Chi invites members of Psi Beta and psychology clubs in Southern California to the University and learn more about transferring to our school. Attending students learn about the psychology department at UCSD, our chapter of Psi Chi, and even tour a psychology research lab!

Community college students work diligently to compete for one of just a few transfer spots at a 4-year college... Transfers enroll at their new school with an already extensive list of completed psychology coursework and competitive GPAs; a cause for disappointment if unable to join Psi Chi due to a chapter asking for transfers to compete a high volume of additional coursework as an application requirement. I saw this as an opportunity to create a better understanding of, and inclusion for, transfer students.

I am proud of the work my chapter has accomplished this academic year of embracing transfer students."
